For over 25 years, Exact Mixing has developed Continuous Mixing Equipment that is ideal for bakeries in the industrial baked snack, cookie, cracker, sweet goods, pizza, tortilla, pet treat and bread and buns industries in France and around the world.
Exact Mixing, a Reading Bakery Systems brand, has been dedicated to solving complex mixing challenges for customers around the globe since 1994. With our equipment and expertise, we can help you reduce labor, cut costs, improve consistency and simplify your mixing process. We offer a full line of mixer models and sizes that will successfully mix a wide variety of food products.
What is Continuous Mixing?
Industrial mixing involves four main operations:
- Delivering bulk ingredients (typically flour) to the mixing area;
- Measuring ingredients placed in the mixer;
- Mixing the ingredients into a dough;
- Handling the dough as it exits the mixer.
In the batch mixing process, these four operations are often treated, designed, and implemented separately. Continuous Mixing integrates all four operations into a single, uninterrupted process.
Metering systems are accurate and designed for accuracies of ±0.25% or better. Products with very low to very high dough moisture levels are uniformly mixed without generating excessive heat. Dough is discharged from the mixer in a constant stream instead of in one large batch every 10 to 15 minutes.
Our Mixer Models
Continuous Mixing is now a proven solution in the cookie, cracker, pretzel, chip, baked snack, pastry, sweet goods, pizza, tortilla, and bread and bun industries. We also offer Continuous Mixing solutions for non-bakery items, such as protein bars, peanut butter, icings, and pet treats.
Our comprehensive line of mixer models and sizes offer production volumes that range from 50 kg/hour to over 10,000 kg/hour and will successfully mix a wide variety of food products. They include:
Exact MX Continuous Mixer – our most versatile mixer is designed for products that call for high energy mixing as well as a wide range of other products, including cookies, snacks, batters, icings, and pastes.
Exact EX Continuous Mixer – designed for wheat-based snack products, such as crackers, and other low- to mid-absorption stiff doughs.
Exact HDX Continuous Mixer – a two-stage system designed for manufacturing ultra-high absorption, highly developed doughs at low temperatures, such as for buns, bread, and rolls.
Exact FX Continuous Mixer – designed for products where critical moisture levels determine final product texture, such as baked potato chips and crisp products.
What Does a Continuous Mixing System Cost?
Continuous Mixing Systems are almost always initially higher in cost than batch mixers. This is primarily because the Continuous Mixer requires an ingredient feeder in order to meter raw materials entering the mixer.
But cost of operation and ownership is almost always less expensive than batch mixing. Continuous Mixing payback opportunities come from greater yield, increased throughput, better consistency, reduced manpower, reduced downstream handling equipment, and lower energy usage.
