What is Continuous Mixing?
Industrial mixing involves four main operations:
- Delivering bulk ingredients (typically flour) to the mixing area;
- Measuring ingredients placed in the mixer;
- Mixing the ingredients into a dough;
- Handling the dough as it exits the mixer.
The batch mixing process typically treats these four operations separately, while Continuous Mixing integrates all four operations into a single, streamlined process.
Bulk delivery, metering, mixing and dough handling become a consistent, uninterrupted process. Metering systems are accurate and designed for accuracies of ±0.25% or better. Products with very low to very high dough moisture levels are uniformly mixed without generating excessive heat. Dough is discharged from the mixer in a constant stream instead of in one large batch every 10 to 15 minutes.

For bakeries that manufacture bread and rolls, we offer the HDX Continuous Mixer which is designed specifically for mixing ultra-high absorption, highly developed dough, such as for breads, hamburger and hot dog buns, hard and soft rolls, English muffins, tortillas, multi-grain products, and similar products.
This High Development Continuous Mixer is a two-stage system. All ingredients are first mixed into a uniform mass with a twin screw mixer. In a separate section, the dough is kneaded to the proper development level with a single screw mixer.
The Exact HDX Mixer provides precise and uninterrupted ingredient metering to the mixer and eliminates the chance of contamination because the dough is never exposed to the environment. This mixer offers dough production rates from 1,500 to 10,000 kg/hour.
