What is Continuous Mixing?
During Continuous Mixing, ingredients are continuously metered into the mixing chamber and generate a continuous stream of mixed product at the exit of the mixer. The mixing may be done in stages to ensure all ingredients have been properly incorporated.
Exact Mixing designs and supplies metering systems to almost every Continuous Mixer we supply. Mixers are designed using Loss-in-Weight technology – the most accurate feeding technology available. And all metering and mixing procedures are monitored and initiated by the control system so the operator is always able to confirm and modify as needed.
Production volumes for our Continuous Mixers range from 50 kg/hour to over 10,000 kg/hour, and mixers can be operated in an almost employee-free environment to increase cost savings and value.
Continuous Mixing Applications
Cookies, Snacks, Fillings: Our most versatile mixer, the MX Continuous Mixer, is designed for mixing a wide range of products including cookies, snacks, cake-style donuts, batters, icings, pastes, peanut butter, pie fillings, and other fat/sugar mixtures. Solid ingredients are quickly blended into solid fat to form a uniform mixture without creating excessive heat. It is also used for products where inclusions are a large portion of the recipe. Inclusions can be added near the exit of the mixer to obtain a uniform mix with no damage.
Crackers & Wheat-Based Snacks: Many products can be produced in our EX Continuous Mixer, including crackers, bagels, pizza, cookies, bread snacks, pretzels, rye chips, sushka, pie crusts, pocket sandwiches and pastries, pet treats, and other low- to mid-absorption, fully developed doughs. It uniformly mixes products with a variety of dough moisture levels, reduces lay time, eliminates dough troughs, and reduces labor and energy thanks to full automation.
Chips & Crisps: The Exact FX Continuous Mixer is designed specifically for products where critical moisture levels determine final product texture, such as baked potato chips, stackable potato chips, rice crisps, corn chips, veggie chips, potato snack, multigrain chips, and more. A high-speed mixing shaft lifts powdered ingredients into and through atomized liquids sprayed into the mixing chamber.
Buns, Breads & Rolls: Exact Mixing offers the HDX Continuous Mixer which is designed specifically for mixing ultra-high absorption, highly developed dough, such as for breads, hamburger and hot dog buns, hard rolls, English muffins, tortillas, multi-grain products, and similar products. This two-stage system mixes all ingredients into a uniform mass in the first stage with a twin-screw mixer, and then, in the second stage, kneads the dough to the proper development level with a single-screw mixer.
