Continuous Mixers and Applications
Continuous Mixing is the process of continuously metering ingredients directly into the mixing chamber and generating a continuous stream of mixed product at the exit of the mixer. The mixing may be done in stages to ensure all ingredients are properly incorporated.
At Exact Mixing, we design and supply metering systems to almost every Continuous Mixer we supply. Mixers are designed using Loss-in-Weight technology – the most accurate feeding technology available. And all metering and mixing procedures are monitored and initiated by the control system, so the operator is always able to confirm and modify as needed.
Exact Mixing offers a range of Continuous Mixer models to meet your needs:
EX Continuous Mixer – This mixer is ideal for wheat-based products such as crackers, pretzels, sweet goods, pet treats and other wheat-based products, and is also well suited for all but the lowest viscosity powder/liquid mixtures. Low moisture, stiff products are easily mixed. Dough is gently mixed and developed without generating excessive heat.
HDX Continuous Mixer – This mixer is ideal for ultra-high-absorption doughs such as buns, breads, English muffins and similar products, and is specifically designed to manufacture highly developed dough at low temperatures. All ingredients are first mixed into a uniform mass with a twin screw mixer. In a separate section, the dough is kneaded to the proper development level with a single screw mixer.
MX Continuous Mixer – This mixer is our most versatile mixer and is well suited for a wide range of products including pizza, pretzels, cookies, snacks, batters, icings, and pastes. It is also an ideal first stage mixer for processes that require creme up and pre-blend stages.
FX Continuous Mixer – This mixer is designed to distribute small amounts of moisture evenly into large amounts of powder by lifting the powder into atomized liquids. It is ideal for hydroscopic powders such as potato flakes used to make fabricated potato chips and other low moisture mixtures.
LDX Continuous Mixer – This mixer is ideal for most types of cookies and other applications where ingredients are blended before the flour is added. Everything but the flour is combined in the crème-up stage, and special mixing elements cut the fat into the other ingredients. The flour is added before the development stage where the final dough is created.
