What is the Difference Between Batch and Continuous Mixing?
The process of batch mixing involves loading ingredients for one batch at a time (either all at once or in a pre-defined sequence), mixing them together, and removing the dough from the mixer before introducing another batch. This means that each batch can produce different, and sometimes undesirable, results.
The main advantage of batch mixing is flexibility. If necessary, you can make small batches, and it’s easy to make slight variations in your products from batch to batch. Batch mixers are typically less expensive in the short-term, but it often takes more labor to make your products than with Continuous Mixers.
Continuous Mixing, on the other hand, is the process of continuously metering ingredients directly into the mixing chamber and generating a constant stream of mixed product at the exit of the mixer. The mixing can be done in stages to ensure all ingredients are properly incorporated.
Exact Mixer production volumes range from 50 kg/hour to over 10,000 kg/hour, and your process can be accomplished in a nearly employee-free environment, increasing cost savings and value.
Although continuous mixers generally involve a higher initial investment cost, they offer many long-term advantages. You will benefit from exceptional scaling accuracy due to the high-tech metering systems for dry and liquid ingredients.
You will also enjoy a more consistent product quality without dough variations. Our mixers are self-monitoring and self-correcting, so once the process is running, it will continue running without bowl cleaning and other work in between. Also, due to limited human intervention and the closed construction of the equipment, there are few chances to contaminate your products.
